Your wedding day is your day to shine, sparkle and make unforgettable memories you will share with your growing family for years too come. So, we as brides to be ask “how can I achieve this without looking like old news”? How can I choose a dress that will compliment my body shape and hide unsightly flaws? How do I find the dress of my dreams that is affordable and makes me look as beautiful as I feel?

Here is the good news – it is difficult too look like the last bride at the alter or previous to that because there are hundreds of different designs and styles of wedding dresses a bride has too choose from. There is a wedding dress that will compliment your natural beauty making your bridal gown unique and exceptionally fantastic! The dress design and the design of the gowns neckline are very important when looking for a gown too meet your unique needs.

So, let begin. There are five main styles of wedding gowns: A-Line Wedding Dress also known as Princess Line Dress, Column Design, Sheath also known as the Empire Line Dress, Mermaid Wedding Gown Design, Ball Gown which may also known as the Ballerina Dress

The A-line dress design looks fabulous on almost every body shape. Since this dress design is fitted around the bodice and flows fluidly with unbroken lines from the Bust to the Hem, this sleek design provides a thinning illusion to your thighs, hips and stomach area. This dress design also gives the illusion of height and provides a deeper defined curve on a thinner bride.

Column dress design has a narrow shape that flows from the neckline to the hem. This dress design tends to cling to your body enhancing your curves. This gown looks amazing on tall or short lean body shapes or  on a bride that feels confident with her feminine body shape.

The Empire dress design is fitted beneath the Bust line and provides a fluent flowing elegant design.  This dress commonly compliments the full figured body shape and bustier bride.  The bottom of this gown design can vary, being a A-Line design or more fitted to the body. On the shorter bride  this dress design tends to elongate the body. This design is a fabulous choice if you are pregnant or are looking for a more casual gown because of the light/loose fitting material.

The Mermaid Dress Design also known as the Fish Tail is narrow and form fitting. This dress design was created for those brides who are not afraid to show off their curves. This dress is tight fitting and flares out drastically at the knee creating a defined silhouette. This design looks fabulous on tall brides or for those brides with a hour-glass body shape.

The Ball Gown Design is designed with a fitted bodice and a full or fluffy skirt. This dress design looks fantastic on a bride who has a medium to full bust line – this design tends to make the upper body look smaller. In addition, this dress design suits a pear shaped body as the bottom half of the gown hides a fuller bottom half while defining and narrowing the brides waist line.

Common Neck Line’s

As we have mentioned the Neck line is also a major defining element to finding the perfect wedding gown for your unique silhouette. There are several Neckline designs starting with: Boat or Bateau Neckline, Halter, Jewel Neckline, Queen Anne Neckline, Strapless Neckline, Sweet Heart Neckline, V-Neck & Spaghetti Strap Neckline.

The Bateau or Boat Neckline naturally enhances the chest area. This design is equally as broad in front and back. This neckline also follows the natural curve of your collar bone which naturally enhances your strong bone structure.

The Halter Neckline is designed with a fluid strap that wraps around the back of your neck leaving your back, shoulders and arms exposed. This design compliments tall women who have broad shoulders. This neckline should be avoided if you are overly endowed, have narrow shoulders and do not want to expose you upper body structure.

The Jewel Neckline outlines the natural curvature of the neck.

The Queen Anne Neckline works well for most body types and elongates your body making you appear taller. This neckline follows the same design as the Halter Neckline except that it sits higher on the back of the neck leaving the front of the chest more open. This design leaves a discreet amount of cleavage that makes you look sophisticated and sexy.

The Strapless Neckline design exposes the shoulders, back and arms. This design looks fabulous on well-endowed brides that have strong shoulders and/or collarbone.

The Sweetheart Neckline is designed in the shape of a heart at the bust-line. This design comes in both strapped or strapless designs that accentuates your cleavage and elongates your neck.

The V-Neck design looks good on most body types and is most commonly desired. The depth of the V-Neck design varies. This design looks best on women with a prominent breast size and/or has a hour glass body shape.

The Spaghetti Strap dress design frames your neck while narrowing your shoulders. If you are more endowed then choose a thicker strap. This neckline enhances your shoulders and arms.
